Lake Lewisville

Lewisville is a very popular lake because it is so convenient for many people in DFW. Unfortunately, this also means it can be crowded and more dangerous than some other area lakes. I've found that the area on the West Side where the I35 Bridge crosses the lake South to the dam seems to be the most dangerous. Second would probably be near the 121 Marina over to the main body of the lake.

Popular launch locations include Arrowhead Park, Stewart's Creek Park, and Pier 121 Marina.

GREAT PLACES TO LAUNCH

Arrowhead Park -West side

Pros: Very short no-wake zone, two big ramps, ACOE annual permit, convenient location

Cons: All of the pros above mean more people.

Westlake Park -West side

Pros: Very short no-wake zone, ACOE annual permit, old Lake Dallas dam provides some wind-protected water, decent ski beach & facilities

Cons: A little bit more driving than many other ramps on the west side

Stewart's Creek Park -East side

Pros: This is the place to go if you're going mid-week and don't mind a long no wake zone. It's close and offers a reasonable annual permit if you live on the east side.

Cons: It's across from Pier 121 and gets crowded quickly.

Hidden Cove Park -East side (formerly Lewisville State Park)

Do NOT tell anyone about this place. Please. It is usually much less crowded and the facilities are very nice.
