Fairfield Lake
Fairfield is a great place to ride over the winter, especially if you ride a standup jetski. There is a power plant at the lake, and the discharge water is quite nice when other lakes are cold. And you know a lake is a great place when the park site mentions that jetski races are sometimes held there. Another great thing about this lake is that it is a pretty reasonable drive. It's almost half-way between Dallas and Houston, and convenient to most of ETX ..probably even Austin, as well. It is small area, and is considered valuable by fishermen, and nature lovers alike .so play nice so we can continue to enjoy it.
Take Interstate 45 South from Dallas or North from Houston to the Fairfield offramp. Go east on 84 and well-marked signs will take you the rest of the way to the park. It's about 9 miles from the interstate.
